First, you need to make the dough.
  •  1 cup warm water
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 2-1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cups bread flour
In a medium bowl dissolve the sugar in the warm water.Stir in the yeast and let it sit until foamy. Mix salt and oil into the yeast mixture. Add the flour a half a cup at a time and knead
it until smooth. Allow it to rise for an hour.

Sprinkled with the sugar mixture and rolling. Grab an arms length of dental floss.

I cut off the uneven ends with floss and make hash marks to make 12 equal buns. 1/2 way first and then by half again and then I hash mark each section into 3.

One long piece of dental floss is slid under the roll and pulled together sharply at each hash mark. Cutting this way helps the buns maintain their shape.

Place in a lightly greased 9 x 12 and cover with a warm, damp cheese cloth or paper towel and set in a warm place for its second rise. It takes between a half hour and hour.

Once risen (picture on left), bake at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes. When done, they will look like the picture on the right.

Invert onto a tray and let it sit for 5 minutes so the syrup can return to the buns. Drizzle with icing.
